Our Research
The Louise Davie Charitable Trust, launched in late-June 2023, raises funds for pancreatic cancer research with earlier diagnosis as the priority. Pancreatic cancer is now the only major cancer with a single-digit survival rate with fewer than 10% living five years after diagnosis.
Funds are generated through a series of annual high-quality events, corporate sponsorship and individual philanthropy. All administrative activity is carried out on a pro bono basis, ensuring 100% of funds go towards research.
The Trust’s first research project was launched in late-July 2025. This investigation will allow Associate Professor Aniruddha Chatterjee and his team at the University of Otago to establish pioneering research aimed at developing a lifesaving, blood-based diagnostic test for the disease.
International collaboration has already been attracted with researchers in Australia, India, Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Austria all keen to be involved.
