OUR EVENTS

The Trust’s 2026 annual dinner, set for the Dunedin Town Hall on Friday, 7th August, will present a genuine mix of world-class entertainment.

Our headline act is Li Cunxin of Mao’s Last Dancer fame.

Li’s story is one of courage, resilience and determination. His appearance is guaranteed to leave the crowd spellbound

On stage with Li will be Billy T Award winning comedian Paul Ego who we all recognise as the voice of PAK’nSAVE’s Stickman.

The night’s music is in the hands of the Dunedin Quartet and Dubious Groove, the wining and dining will be second-to-none and there is a surprise or two as well.

2025 continued to lift the quality of events on the Trust’s annual calendar. Our major experiences included a successful second golf tournament, a highly emotional dinner featuring guest speakers Deborah Manning, Hamish Bond and Nigel Latta (we were so sad to hear of Nigel’s passing just weeks after being on stage with us), being named the Charity of Choice at the Emerson’s Dunedin marathon, and a spectacular initial foray into fashion with Fashion @ the Grange. Confirmed events for 2026 are the annual dinner, which will be held on 7th August and Fashion @ the Grange, set to strut its stuff on 9th October.

2024 was quite a remarkable year for the Trust. Trustee Prof. Chris Jackson has been elected to the Union for International Cancer Control, just one of 16 board members internationally and the first ever from New Zealand in the union’s 90-year existence. Chris has also been appointed to co-lead the brand-new Cancer National Clinical Network, established to improve access to quality cancer services, designed around the needs of all people in New Zealand.

And the stardom attracted to our events calendar has been extraordinary. Shaun Wallace, the Dark Destroyer from The Chase, was with us in July while Willie Apiata VC enthralled us in November at the Trust's first annual dinner. We have been privileged to host them both.
