OUR EVENTS
The Trust's first foray into fashion - Fashion @ the Grange - is set for Friday, 10th October. To be staged in the Grange Lifecare Village cafe in Mosgiel, Fashion @ the Grange will feature designs from Repertoire, Dakota, Felix, Apt Collections, Chapman Store, the Taieri College textile and design students, Alex Campbell Menswear and BespokebyTegan. There will be a lucky prize draw, complimentary drinks and nibbles on arrival, and a high-quality raffle. There will also be some celebrities on the catwalk as well as a surprise element. Fashion @ the Grange, supported by Mandy and her team at the Grange and presented in association with Andrew Simms Dunedin, will be a fun night out.
The Louise Davie Charitable Trust is the Charity of Choice for this year’s Emerson’s Dunedin City marathon, and we are extremely grateful to the organisers for that opportunity. Race day is Sunday, 14th September with seven different running and walking events on offer. There is a Louise Davie Charitable Trust team entered in the 10km recreational walk, which you are very welcome to join. Organisers are hoping for a record entry of 4,500. It will be a big day out.
2024 was quite a remarkable year for the Trust. Trustee Prof. Chris Jackson has been elected to the Union for International Cancer Control, just one of 16 board members internationally and the first ever from New Zealand in the union’s 90-year existence. Chris has also been appointed to co-lead the brand-new Cancer National Clinical Network, established to improve access to quality cancer services, designed around the needs of all people in New Zealand.
And the stardom attracted to our events calendar has been extraordinary. Shaun Wallace, the Dark Destroyer from The Chase, was with us in July while Willie Apiata VC enthralled us in November at the Trust's first annual dinner. We have been privileged to host them both.
